On Monday 22 February 2010 the exhibition "Miró of Majorca" is inaugurated at "THEATRON" of Hellenic Cosmos, with works of the great Catalan painter from his most creative period. The exhibition includes oil paintings of the period 1976-1981, original engravings from the series Els gossos (The dogs), Gens de la mer (People of the sea) and Fundació Palma as well as photographs by Jean-Marie del Moral and Francesc Catalá-Roca from Miró's workshop in Majorca. Mr. Marios Elefteriadis is the curator of the exhibition.
All the material comes from the Foundation Pilar i Joan Ģiró in Majorca, which was created when the artist and his family donated in the city Palma in 1980 the four art workshops where the painter worked intensively from 1956 until his death in 1983.
The exhibition "Ģiró of Majorca" will last until June 6 2010. It is under the auspices of His Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Karolos Papoulias and the Spanish Embassy in Athens. The exhibition will be inaugurated by the Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism Ms Angeliki Gerekou.
